While driving behind my wife, I noticed that my wife's muffler was bouncing a bit more than usual when she went over bumps. Turns out the metal strap that wraps around it had rusted/sheared near the top, up where it connects to the rubber hanger. The weather was decent today, but not nice enough that I felt like spending half an hour under her car, so I did a bit of a ghetto fix. I unwrapped a metal coat hanger and wired it back up into place. I think it'll hold for a little while, at least until the weather gets nicer. By then I should also be able to come up with something a bit more permanent.

Anyone else today do some automotive hackery?

Hmmm, I figured out my rental car won't fit up my driveway, so I hacked my driveway with some plywood.

Go get a pipe clamp from Lowes Home Hardware or similar. Just as easy to put on, and it's a permanent fix. Mine have been on for two years holding the muffler on.

Yeah, I figured something like that'd work. I just didn't feel like heading out again. The area in town where all the hardware stores are located can be a zoo on Saturdays.
